Why choose this switch?
NETGEAR ProSAFE M4300-28G is a 1 U rack-mountable managed Layer 3 switch that provides 24 Gigabit access ports and two SFP+ 10 G uplinks for access and aggregation. It supports mixed 1 G/10 G stacking, nonstop forwarding and OpenFlow 1.3, helping you scale performance, maintain uptime, and simplify migration to higher speeds.
ProSAFE M4300-28G in short:
- 24 Gigabit RJ-45 access ports plus two SFP+ 10 G uplinks, suited for wireless, IP video and unified communications aggregation.
- Full L2/L3/L4 feature set and IPv4/IPv6 routing without extra licenses, useful for policy-based routing and dynamic routing at the edge.
- Flexible mixed stacking of 1 G and 10 G models with nonstop forwarding and hitless failover for resilient top-of-rack or branch deployments.
- Rack-mountable 1 U design and compact footprint for dense rack layouts.
- This model does not provide PoE, so access points or IP phones require separate power sources.
Built for converged networks
NETGEAR ProSAFE M4300-28G provides the protocol and policy features required to operate converged services. It includes advanced L2 switching and L3 routing features, including static routing, dynamic routing and policy-based routing. That makes it suitable for carrying wireless access traffic, IP video streams and voice, while allowing enforcement of QoS and security policies at the access layer.
Flexible stacking and high availability
The switch supports mixed 1 G/10 G stacking and line-rate spine and leaf topologies. Nonstop forwarding and hitless failover allow a standby switch to take over without interrupting traffic forwarding. This reduces operational complexity when expanding capacity or deploying redundant top-of-rack configurations.
Deployment and management
ProSAFE M4300-28G fits in a 1 U rack and offers local management ports, including an RS-232 console and a USB 2.0 port for file transfer and recovery. It supports automated DHCP/BootP provisioning for bulk deployments. Note that this unit uses a single internal power input and does not provide PoE, so plan for redundant power if availability is critical. The product is covered by a one-year warranty.
